This unique tour offers an opportunity to play Scottish Highland courses rarely visited by golfing tourists. Courses named after Highland towns and villages such as Granton-on Spey, Strathpeffer, Fortrose and Rosemarkie. Although not championship caliber, they are challenging and very beautiful courses where locals play with family and friends in an informal, no fuss, and peaceful environment. Three of the Scottish Highland's most celebrated links courses highlight the tour, Nairn Golf Club, Royal Dornoch and the latest addition in the north, Castle Stuart an outstanding links with magnificent scenery overlooking the Moray Firth and recently selected to host the 2011 PGA Tour Scottish Open.
Inverness, known as the Capital of the Highlands is where they say visitors will find the warmest of welcomes, and is home for the opening days of the tour. Lodging is arranged at the Kingsmills Hotel, set in four acres of carefully kept gardens and manicured lawns. At Kingsmills be assured of exceptional service in a quiet and pretty location in the Highlands of Scotland. The four-star hotel is located a short walk from the town center and close to the city's best restaurants and Gallic nightlife. The newly appointed Royal Golf Hotel, situated beside the first hole at Royal Dornoch, home for the final days of the tour and is steeped in Dornoch golf lore. Royal Dornoch's Conservatory Restaurant uses the very finest local ingredients to create mouth-watering traditional Scottish fare.
Offers fantastic views of the golf course.
The cost per person double occupancy is $2798 (single occupancy adds $568) and includes:
Optional sightseeing and fine dining opportunities are offered but are not included in the tour price. A deposit of $500 per person is required to enroll. The full amount is due forty-five days before departure. Cancellation within forty-five is subject to a penalty equal to the deposit, unless the tour vacancy is filled.
The Islands (an optional three days):
The Islands tour will start with a journey west along Loch Ness to the Kyle of Lochalsh then onto the beautiful Isle of Skye. Plan to play the nine-hole Sconser Golf Club on Skye, if only for it's beauty or pass up golf and head up to Portree and check into the Cuillin Hills Hotel to enjoy the most spectacular views from any hotel in Scotland. Set within fifteen acres of mature private grounds the hotel overlooks Portree Bay with magnificent views over the Sound of Raasay to the Cuillin Mountain range. Tour Skye from here and be sure to stop at Dunvegan Castle home to the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod for over 700 years. Dine at Cuillin's unique View-Sea Food-See Art Restaurant.
